When I feel confused
I can look at God's creation; a plant, a flower
And see how God’s creation is organized;
how His work is perfect.
This reminds me that He did not give me
A confused mind. He is not a god of confusion. God is organized.
He gave me a spirit of power, love and a sound mind.
I turn to His wisdom to organize my mind.
Verse: 1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
When I feel overwhelmed or weary
I can take a deep breath.
And say God is my strength.
He will not let the chaos of the times
suffocate me, I can regain my breath in Him.
Verse: Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
When I am discouraged
I can think about the living blood
God, my Saviour allows to flow throughout my body
I am alive! He has kept me alive!
Because He lives, I find courage to move forward from that which discourages me.
.
Verse: Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither should you be dismayed: for the LORD your God is with you wheresoever you go.
When I am afraid
In times like these, when there is a fight for controlling your mind
with the goal of literally confusing you: when right becomes wrong and wrong becomes right.
I think of God's advice to me in Proverbs:
I am advised to "not be afraid of sudden terror or trouble that comes from the wicked."
Father God, you made man and you know the heart of man. You know how and when you will shut down his wickedness. Let your truth have dominium over my mind and help my spirit understand that you are the only hiding place from terror and the wicked.
Verse: Proverbs 3:25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
When I feel anxiety or stress
I turn to Christ and let his peace release my tension.
in John 14:27 Christ offers us his peace.
He makes a distinction between the peace he gives which is divine and everlasting.
and the peace the world gives which is false and short lived.
Only his peace can release my heart from trouble and fright.
Thank you Lord for calling our attention to see that
your peace is different from the peace the world gives.
Verse: Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
When I feel lonesome
I let God's word,
like a shattering force break the feeling of lonesomeness
and reveal the good news that He is always with me
even though others may abandon me.
With prayer I can come closer to him
and experience his presence in my life. In 1 Peter 5:7 I learn that Jesus doesn't mind me telling him about my troubles even, my experience of lonesomeness; he cares for me. Nothing or no one can separate us from the love of Christ.
Verse: Romans 8: 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
1Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you.
I am a New Creature in Christ
Christ came in the flesh and was nailed to the cross for our sins. He paid for our sins with his blood. He was buried and resurrected from the dead. Through his resurrection, he arose a new man: providing a physical prove of his resurrection to his disciples as he appeared to them in the flesh. When we are in Christ, this means that our old sinful self, was crucified with him and our new self which is freed from sin resurrected with him; that is how we are new creatures. As new creatures, we are no longer slaves to sin. Therefore, our live should reflect Christ’s presence in us: striving to not be sinful every day is a worthy goal to attempt. The Holy Spirit is continually working in us to help us grow in the things of God. Galatians 2:20 describes this as:
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
Ezekiel 11:19 – 20 explains how God has equipped the new creature in Christ with what is needed to live in the ways of God and be obedient to him.
19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
When we were still sinners God’s love for us is demonstrated by sending his only son Jesus, to die for our sins. The shedding of Christ’s blood justifies us. Justification is the process that occurs when God acquits us of sin because Christ shed his blood to free us from sin. It's like saying we are not guilty. Romans 3: 23 tells us that we are all guilty of sin: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God;” Strong’s dictionary of Bible words defines Justification as “acquittal” which is to be set free from a guilt. we are no longer slaves to sin. God has acquitted us.
I am not a Slave to Sin
Are you a slave to sin or a slave to righteousness? Who do you obey?
Romans 6:16 says that we should know who we serve. We are servants to whom we serve and obey: “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” Sin leads us to death whereas obedience leads us to righteousness. Who should we be obedient to? Romans 6:22 points out that we should be obedient to God. “But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.” When we are obedient to God, we are rewarded holiness and everlasting life.
This verse appears in Old Testament context to the Jewish nation where God as redeemer from a distance, comes to deliver his people. God’s love for his people through Christ extends to all generation and is full of the gift of grace, as Ephesians 2:8,9 says.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Even today from his throne of mercy, he hears the cry of those who believe and trust in him. He is ready to save them. His love is everlasting. With lovingkindness, he continues to draw his people to him. God loves believers, but do believers love Him enough to be patient and hear the real truth about how sin separates man from God. So that they would practice doing what pleases Him?
Our victories are depended on Christ working in us: we cannot win by our own afford. Because Christ loves us, he has equipped us: he gives us strength to endure, daily provision to lack nothing, a resting place of peace, strong faith to stand rooted in him when we are faced with trials in our lives.
Romans 8:35 tells us that neither tribulations, or distress , or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword, can separate us from the love of Christ. According to verse 37, we can be overwhelmingly victorious as conquerors in all things through Christ that loved us.
